Frequently Asked Questions

Organised by the National Trades Union Congress, this Programme is a tailored one-to-one mentoring programme that aims to provide mentees a safe space to receive support, ask questions, and learn from industry professionals.

Mentors: Minimum 5 years working experience in the same function or industry. It will be advantageous if you have excellent communication skills and a passion for contributing to the society and shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

Mentees: You need to be an NTUC union member. If you have not signed-up for NTUC Union Membership, please do so here.

Both mentors and mentees are required to commit at least 6 hours of mentoring sessions over 3 consecutive months, from September to November 2023. We leave it to the discretion of the mentor-mentee pair to conduct the sessions in person, and/or via virtual meetings.

In addition, to prepare both parties for the mentorship programme, Mentors are required to attend:

  • A virtual sharing session (30min)
  • A half day physical workshop (4 hrs)
  • A virtual on-boarding session (1hr)

Mentees are required to attend:

  • A virtual on-boarding session (1hr)

Mentees – please complete this application form by 31 March 2024.

We will notify you on your application results 3 weeks before the commencement of the programme.

No, once your application has been submitted, we are unable to allow modifications or re-submission, so please complete the application form as accurately as possible.

Mentors and mentees will be provided with a handbook. The handbook will cover the know-hows of mentoring, from how to approach your participation as a mentor/mentee, to understanding the key phases of the mentoring process and to navigating the obligations of a mentor/mentee.

For mentees, there will be a self-assessment form to guide you in achieving your objectives at the end of the programme.

You will be matched based on your industry, job function and/or interests.

Once matched, you will receive an email to create an account on our mentorship platform. You will be guided to download the mentorship handbook. Instructions for both mentors and mentees can be found in the respective handbooks. There is also an onboarding session that you are required to attend to familiarise yourself with our mentorship programme.

Whilst there are no specific projects, there will be a mid-point check-in form to help us understand your mentorship progress. At the end of the programme, you will also need to complete a feedback form to help us evaluate the success of the mentorship programme and identify areas for improvement.

Internships and job opportunities are not guaranteed. Our mentors are not obliged to provide any internships or employment to their mentees. Though there might be some cases of such, this should not be an expectation going into the programme, and we leave it to the mentor's discretion as to how they would like to tailor their guidance and support to their mentees.

Yes, all mentees will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the programme.

Sorry to hear that. Pease contact us at mentorship@ntuc.org.sg

Yes of course! Mentoring can be a rewarding experience for both mentors and mentees alike. We hope you can continue your mentoring relationship beyond the stated duration of the programme.

Yes, both mentors and mentees can participate in the programme multiple times and in multiple roles. Example: You can register to be a mentee more than once, and if you would like to give back to the community, you can also register as a mentor if you fulfil the criteria.

Mentors can participate as many times as they desire and if you feel there is a need to be mentored, you can also participate as a mentee.

Technically, you don’t need to.

However, if you wish to update your personal details, please let us know at mentorship@ntuc.org.sg

Each mentor can be matched with up to three mentees.

Sorry to hear that. Please contact us at mentorship@ntuc.org.sg
